About the Laboratory

The Condensed-matter physics Laboratory was established in June 2016.

The focus of the laboratory is on fundamental physics research at the top level. Development of a modern educational center is also part of the laboratory's mission.

The laboratory brings together leading Russian physicists from research centers of the Russian academy (Landau Institute fro theoretical physics, Kapitza Institute for physical problems, Institute of solid-state physics, Institute for Spectroscopy, P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute)

The laboratory includes research groups, which focus on the following areas of condensed-matter physics:

  • Condensed-matter theory

Research is connected with the Quantum mesoscopics department of the Landau Institute for theoretical physics .

  • Low-temperature physics and nanophysics

Research is connected with experimental laboratories at the Institute of solid-state physics (Laboratory of superconductivity, Laboratory of non-equilibrium electronic processes, Laboratory of electron kinetics) and the Kapitza Institute for physical problems (spin dynamics group).

  • Hydrodynamics and turbulence

Research is connected with the Department for physics of non-equilibrium phenomena at the Landau Institute for theoretical physics and the Laboratory of quantum crystals at the Institute of solid-state physics.
