Семинар международной лаборатории физики конденсированного состояния: Mikhail Zhitomirsky, (CEA, Grenoble, France) "Индуцированные беспорядком состояния фрустрированных магнетиков" (Disorder induced states in frustrated magnets)
Magnetic frustration signifies presence of competing interactions that are often unable to choose a uniquelowest-energy state. Fluctuations, thermal and quantum, may lift such residual degeneracy. Another source of degeneracy lifting is provided by weak structural disorder in magnetic solids.I shall discuss how the structural disorder selects states using the example of the triangular Heisenberg and XY pyrochlore antiferromagnets. Another spectacular effect producedby weak bond randomness in the kagome antiferromagnet is appearance of jammed spin liquid that is differentfrom an ordinary spin glass state.
