Winter school on

Quantum Condensed-matter Physics

Winter school on quantum condensed-matter physics is organized by the Condensed-matter physics Laboratory of the Higher School of Economics.

The goal of the school is to introduce young scientists into selected topics and the latest achievements in this rapidly developing area. An important aspect of the school is lecturing by both experimentalists and theoreticians. It is planned that leading international experts will give lectures and mini-courses on the latest experimental achievements in the physics of novel topological materials, Josephson junctions, nanowires with strong spin-orbit interaction, recent theoretical approaches to topological superconductivity, spin-related phenomena, quantum transport in nanostructures, physics of one-dimensional strongly correlated systems.

We plan to invite about 30 senior masters students, graduate students, and early-career scientists to participate in the school. The participants will be selected by the organizing committee on the basis of applications and recommendations of their scientific advisors.

The school is held just before and in conjunction with the international "2017 Winter workshop/school on localization, interactions and superconductivity", which will take place on December 18-21, 2017 in the city of Chernogolovka. This allows the participants of the school to take part also in the workshop, where about 20 talks on the most recent results in the field of localization, interactions and superconductivity will be presented.
